Our waiting list is currently open! We do not have any breeding plans at the moment but we are happy to keep your name on our list for when our plans are solidified. Check back for future litters!
Thank you for checking out our program and website. We are located in a small town nestled in the heart of West Texas, called Smyer. My husband works the dogs on commercial cattle and Dorper sheep. We raise Dorper sheep that we use to train our dogs. We like to trial and participate in dog sport such as barn hunt, agility and dock diving, when we have spare time on our hands. Versatility is an important aspect of our breeding program and our dogs are family pets before anything. We strive to focus on health, temperament, and working ability. We raise our puppies with ENS, ESI and a mix of avidog and puppy culture. Dedicated to maintaining a responsible breeding program we fully health test our breeding dogs.
Each breeding dogs information is listed on our website, you can view videos and photos on our YouTube page, Facebook and Instagram.
Please contact us if you have any questions about us or our breeding program!

BUYING A SOUTH WIND STOCKDOGS PUPPY
Before you plan to buy a puppy from me, please research the Border Collie breed. These are very high energy, high-strung, intelligent dogs, and if you don't have quite a bit of time to spend with one on a daily basis, this is not the breed for you. They can become destructive and neurotic if they do not have the proper exercise. They do not have to constantly work stock, nor do they have to compete in any canine sport to be happy; they can make wonderful pets and family dogs, even without a "job" to do. However, they have to be trained to be calm, and must get lots of exercise. I highly encourage kennel training. Border Collies must be trained and socialized. They are easy to train because they are a very intelligent, naturally affectionate breed which thrives on pleasing their human. They must be socialized because they are a sensitive, loyal breed and will either become timid of strangers, or overly protective of their own family if they do not learn to accept strangers in a proper way when they are puppies. Don't allow your dog to develop bad habits: jumping on people, chewing on furniture, chasing cars, chickens, children, horses, etc.
If after reading all that, you still want one of my puppies, here is how the buying process works:
Please note that I reserve the right to withhold any puppy from sale, to anyone if I feel it will be prejudicial to the puppy's health and general well-being to sell it to that person, or if I feel that it will not be a good fit for the puppy and owner. I'm not looking for perfect owners for the pups, I know that there are no perfect owners, but I want to avoid the wrecks that come when someone buys a puppy just because it is cute, but has no knowledge or lacks the capability to provide it a safe, structured home. I also reserve the right to choose to keep any puppies from any litter.
Step 1: Please read over my contracts, they can be found under the tab "links". Contact me via email, Instagram or the SWS Facebook page. You can ask as many questions as you want, and possibly come visit us to meet the dogs, my husband and I. If we are all satisfied, I will have you fill out the questionnaire also found under the "links" tab. I will conduct phone interviews to get a better idea of who you are, your goals with your puppy and to answer any additional questions you may have. I will then notify you when the puppies are born.
Step 2: I will keep you updated on the puppies growth, health and personality development. I will do this by posting on the Facebook and Instagram page. Of course, you are welcome to contact me and check in as well. I throw a puppy party when the puppies are 5 weeks old. You can also set up an appointment to come meet the puppies between the ages of 4-7 weeks. Each update will include individual pictures of the puppies.
Step 3: I will not accept deposits until after the puppies are placed with their families. Puppies will not be placed based on color. I will do a temperament test and stock test at 7 weeks and based on my observations from birth until that time, stock testing, temperament testing, my conversations with you and your application answers, I will place a puppy with you! I will contact you and let you know what puppy has been placed with you. After we are both satisfied with the placement I have made, you will place a $900, non-refundable deposit. The deposit can be Venmo, Cashapp, Zelle, PayPal or Facebook Pay. I will then post on social media once everyone has accepted their puppy and named their puppy. All registrations will have "SWS" in the name. Please note that name choices for AKC are limited to (50) fifty characters. Spaces between words, apostrophes and hyphens are counted. Per the AKC's website an additional fee will be incurred when more than (36) thirty-six characters are chosen, if this is the case that fee will have to be covered by the puppy buyer. ABCA allows (14) characters. Your ABCA and AKC registration names DO NOT have to match, unless the puppies are open registered. The dogs will be dual registered, limited ABCA/AKC.
Step 4: Pay in full and pick up your puppy. This is the exciting part- taking that puppy home! All puppies will be ready to leave at 8 weeks, unless otherwise stated by myself. When you come to pick him/her up, you will pay the remaining balance of the price for them. For this payment I prefer cash, but I will also take Venmo, Cashapp, Zelle, PayPal or Facebook Pay. Important things to note: If a buyer stops responding to communication and has not picked up their puppy by the age of 12 weeks, I will consider that they no longer want the puppy and may resell it, keeping the deposit that was placed per contract agreement. Of course, I will make every effort to contact a buyer before resorting to this, but if I cannot contact the buyer and the puppy reaches 12 weeks, I will proceed as outlined above.
Papers & Puppy Pack When you pick up your puppy, you will receive a binder with the health certificate, which certifies that they have received first shots, microchip, and have received all proper deworming, and are in good health. All of the contracts signed will also be in your binder. I will also give you an individual bill of sale and your ABCA/AKC registration papers if they have arrived. Sometimes it takes a while to get the papers back after I have submitted them, and in this case I will simply mail them to you whenever I receive them. All puppies are sold with a contract. Puppies are sold without breeding rights, unless otherwise requested and agreed upon before purchase. This is simply to help preserve the integrity of the breed. If we have agreed to breeding rights, ABCA papers, and full AKC registration will not be given until the dog has been proven and has all proper health testing, proven working ability and a solid temperament per our co-own contract.
Each puppy will come with a blanket with moms and littermates scent on it, a bag of the dog food they’re currently on, a collar, favorite toy and a couple of extra goodies! Before pick-up, I will bathe the puppy and trim nails.
