Gemma is our lovely blue merle who started it all, she is out of Buster (ABCA445668) and Kate (ABCA458224). Gemma comes from a long line of ranch cow dogs, but her dam was a flyball dog in New Mexico.
Gemma is stable and biddable dog that loves her work. She has a phenomenal off switch and will take to laying around when it is time to relax. Gemma has a low-moderate toy drive. She prefers playing fetch over tugging and we have had to do some extra work to build up her tug drive. Gemma once being super social has now taken to liking being by herself and not being bothered when she is busy playing or working. She is neutral around dogs, cats, and people, and is much more interested in toys and working than socializing.
Gemma encompasses what a Border Collie should be, a skilled worker with a correct nose and heel bite, biddable, affectionate, and sound. She has a pedigree with notable cow dogs. To name a few Ben (ABCA423663) from Bob and Jan Wagner's Glen (ABCA339708) and Zoe (ABCA348463). Ben is still standing at stud and producing consistent cow dogs. She is also J.R. Red (ABCA303492) line bred. J.R. Red is known for his consistent production of solid, stable, level headed cow dogs. He is always a dog that sticks out when researching pedigrees and looking for new prospects at South Wind Stockdogs.
